I took this serie on 11 March, 2020, three days after International Woman Day (8 March). 200.000 women marched into the whole country to claim over inequality, feminicide and strict abortion controls. In Punta Arenas, Chilean women have protested during two days,
Abortion was still illegal in Chile until 2017. It is legal to interrupt a pregnancy when the life or health of a woman is at risk or if the pregnancy was the result of rape or when the foetus will not survive the pregnancy.
The Parlament will examine in January 2021 a bill to legalise abortion in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
